Things I despise:
- People who take advantage of others.
- Being over-tired.
Things I dig:
- Getting together with family and friends, gabbing and laughing until the wee hours of the morning.
- Homemade crab cakes (Thanks, sis!)
- Short work weeks.
- Roses that actually smell!
Things that are bugging me...
- When the coffee filter folds over during brewing, creating a weakened brew.
- My notifications are still not coming through.
- Uncertainty.
Things that are exciting me...
- Having our vacation - albeit brief - planned.
- Getting to see friends and family this weekend.
- The kids only have 7 days of school left.
- The Daughter got a job today (she's pretty stoked too).
- Rob getting well-deserved kudos at work.
- That Rob is getting up and running with me in the mornings.
Things I am not liking:
~ Walking out to the car two mornings in a row and finding pterodactyl-sized feces on my car. Might I add that said car resides under a car port.
~ Having an itch on my big toe that won't go away. Grrrrr.
~ Gas prices. Double grrrr.
Things I am liking:
~ Freshly painted nails.
~ Freshly painted toenails.
~ Warm enough weather to skip the panty hose (yet another reason to like freshly painted toenails)
~ Salad with dinner - especially when 2/3rds of the veggies were free!
~ Reading a favorite book.
~ Cinnamon coffee cake
~ Appletinis
I thought it might be fun this week to write about a few things that I am both lovin' and not lovin' so much.
I am not loving getting up at 5:30 AM so I can exercise, BUT...
I am loving how getting up at 5:30 AM to exercise is giving me more energy throughout the day. I know that there are huge payoffs when I make exercise a regular part of my life.
I am not loving how the warmer weather tends to cause my hair to do crazy things, BUT...
I am loving how the warmer weather is allowing me to pull out clothes I haven't seen in 6 months, making me feel like I have a new wardrobe for a little while.
I am not loving being tired by 9:30 PM every night, BUT...
I am loving being tired by 9:30 PM, because it forces me to meander down to our room, get ready for bed, and snuggle up with a good book, so that I am completely relaxed by the time I turn out the light.
I am not loving how expensive my favorite ice cream shop has become, BUT...
I am loving that they had my favorite flavor - pistachio - for Rob and me to indulge in tonight (and that I had a few extra bucks to purchase a pint).
Not liking so much:
Bulk mailings.
Meaning those that I get to put together. It is a tedious process, and took up most of my day. This is the first thing at my job that I can say I don't care for. Blessed thing that they only happen once - maybe twice on a rare occasion, like today - a month.
Sore shins.
I made a pledge - to myself, but a pledge nonetheless - to start exercising in the mornings this week. And for the past two days I have gotten up at 5:30 AM, drank a cup of coffee, stretched, and ran. Well, I've walked a mile and ran a mile because, honestly, it's been a while. And now my shins are sore. And that is decidedly not fun.
Liking...well...a lot!
What sore shins mean.
I am getting my aging carcass out there and doing something! I want to be able to ask my physician's assistant if I can try 8 weeks of exercise without the diuretic to keep my BP in check, and being able to tell her that I've already incorporated a plan is a very, very good thing.
Spending time with my best friend.
My best friend of over 23 years and her son came up and spent last weekend with us. Along with the usual laughing and solving of world problems, we managed to paint the two biggest walls in The Daughter's room. Best of all, it is so nice to be able to just be with someone who really knows you and still loves you anyway.
Clearance racks!
I found a pair of Levis jeans and a pair of Vans for The Middle - all for just $24.95. I also found a cute top and cami for myself for a good price, though I can't remember quite how much. It will feel great to have something new to wear to work tomorrow.
Books to re-read.
They are like old friends come into town for a surprise visit. I love snuggling into bed a bit early and reading a chapter or two, rediscovering the joys of a story well-known, as wells as discovering something I didn't see the first or second or sixteenth time through.
was given at work on Tuesday.
Last night I subjected the kids to pirogies. They weren't very impressed.
(I offered hummus too, but they immediately scorned my newest addiction).
Ah well, what good is being a mom if you don't force your kids to eat something they can't spell now and again?
