Things I am not diggin' one bit:
- Being tired by 9 PM each night (one of the liabilities of getting up early, I suppose).
- Mosquitoes
- Work computers that take 10 minutes to load new apps
Things I am diggin', and diggin' much:
- Getting my workouts in each morning, regardless of how little I like rising early - and seeing the benefits of doing so!
- Being able to sit on a deck in the cool evening, despite the skeeters (what's a bit of blood loss anyway, eh?)
- New work computers, especially when said computer is an iMac!
It pretty much sucks that there is no running water or flushy-flushy at work right now. Yes, you read that right. But, it rocks that I get to work from home this morning because of the lack of facilities.
It pretty much sucks that we have over 6 months until our big vacation. But, it rocks that we are going on a cruise!
It pretty much sucks that Rob had to work all weekend. But, it rocks that I have a spouse who is so dedicated and a good provider.
It pretty much sucks that my nails are paper-thin and break easy since I took the acrylics off a month ago. But, it rocks to have some extra spending money.
It pretty much sucks that my exercise regimen is a mess. But, it rocks that I was pronounced "skinny" by two different people in the past two days (the right clothes can hide a multitude of evils).
I am not liking that my arm is sore, but I like that I was able to give blood today.
I am not liking how tired I feel each evening, but I am liking that I am reestablishing a running routine.
I am not liking how many hours Rob works, but I am liking that he enjoys his vocation.
I am not liking that I have hardly any Christmas preparations complete, but I like that I have decorated the house.
I am not liking that there are still several undone projects in the house, but I am liking how the living room and family room are coming along.
I am not liking that I've put on some weight, but I am liking my curves.
Things I am not liking too much...
- Being tired by 9 PM every night.
- Not being able to get the pool clear so we can close the dumb thing (not to mention not being able to use it for the final toasty days of September.
- Closing costs moving higher than anticipated.
- That closing might be postponed since the roof is not finished (nothing says "time to rain" quite like tearing a roof off!).
Things I am liking much!
- That I really had to think about some things to list above.
- Lunch with the girls (my co-workers) on Mondays.
- Three day-weekends, every weekend! (I am loving my 4-day work week.)
- Cool mornings (perfect for running).
- Still getting notes from friends saying they are praying for us.
- Knowing that this time next month we will be on a cruise ship in the Caribbean!
- Looking forward to hearing Rob speak on Sunday.
- That The Youngest doesn't mind me waiting at the bus stop with him in the mornings.
- Dark chocolate.
.
Things I am loathing:
- Not being able to keep up with blog reading, causing 10 pages of unread blogs.
- Not being able to comment much once I start reading 10 pages of unread blogs because that's a lot of darn reading.
- Not being able to sell this house.
- Not being able to find a house we love.
- Not being able to submit a great contract should we find a house we love because we can't sell this house.
Things I am liking:
- Finally being caught up on my blog reading (I sure miss you guys when I can't read and/or comment!).
- Hugs from friends at our soon-to-be-church when they see us during our house-hunting trips.
- Our slightly snarky buying agents (they keep us laughing during this stressful time).
- Holiday Inn Express' cinnamon rolls. Has anyone here had these? They have them at the complimentary breakfast, and I am sure they have caused me to gain a couple of pounds.
- Fresca.
Things I despise:
- People who take advantage of others.
- Being over-tired.
Things I dig:
- Getting together with family and friends, gabbing and laughing until the wee hours of the morning.
- Homemade crab cakes (Thanks, sis!)
- Short work weeks.
- Roses that actually smell!
Things that are bugging me...
- When the coffee filter folds over during brewing, creating a weakened brew.
- My notifications are still not coming through.
- Uncertainty.
Things that are exciting me...
- Having our vacation - albeit brief - planned.
- Getting to see friends and family this weekend.
- The kids only have 7 days of school left.
- The Daughter got a job today (she's pretty stoked too).
- Rob getting well-deserved kudos at work.
- That Rob is getting up and running with me in the mornings.
Things I am not liking:
~ Walking out to the car two mornings in a row and finding pterodactyl-sized feces on my car. Might I add that said car resides under a car port.
~ Having an itch on my big toe that won't go away. Grrrrr.
~ Gas prices. Double grrrr.
Things I am liking:
~ Freshly painted nails.
~ Freshly painted toenails.
~ Warm enough weather to skip the panty hose (yet another reason to like freshly painted toenails)
~ Salad with dinner - especially when 2/3rds of the veggies were free!
~ Reading a favorite book.
~ Cinnamon coffee cake
~ Appletinis
I thought it might be fun this week to write about a few things that I am both lovin' and not lovin' so much.
I am not loving getting up at 5:30 AM so I can exercise, BUT...
I am loving how getting up at 5:30 AM to exercise is giving me more energy throughout the day. I know that there are huge payoffs when I make exercise a regular part of my life.
I am not loving how the warmer weather tends to cause my hair to do crazy things, BUT...
I am loving how the warmer weather is allowing me to pull out clothes I haven't seen in 6 months, making me feel like I have a new wardrobe for a little while.
I am not loving being tired by 9:30 PM every night, BUT...
I am loving being tired by 9:30 PM, because it forces me to meander down to our room, get ready for bed, and snuggle up with a good book, so that I am completely relaxed by the time I turn out the light.
I am not loving how expensive my favorite ice cream shop has become, BUT...
I am loving that they had my favorite flavor - pistachio - for Rob and me to indulge in tonight (and that I had a few extra bucks to purchase a pint).
Not liking so much:
Bulk mailings.
Meaning those that I get to put together. It is a tedious process, and took up most of my day. This is the first thing at my job that I can say I don't care for. Blessed thing that they only happen once - maybe twice on a rare occasion, like today - a month.
Sore shins.
I made a pledge - to myself, but a pledge nonetheless - to start exercising in the mornings this week. And for the past two days I have gotten up at 5:30 AM, drank a cup of coffee, stretched, and ran. Well, I've walked a mile and ran a mile because, honestly, it's been a while. And now my shins are sore. And that is decidedly not fun.
Liking...well...a lot!
What sore shins mean.
I am getting my aging carcass out there and doing something! I want to be able to ask my physician's assistant if I can try 8 weeks of exercise without the diuretic to keep my BP in check, and being able to tell her that I've already incorporated a plan is a very, very good thing.
Spending time with my best friend.
My best friend of over 23 years and her son came up and spent last weekend with us. Along with the usual laughing and solving of world problems, we managed to paint the two biggest walls in The Daughter's room. Best of all, it is so nice to be able to just be with someone who really knows you and still loves you anyway.
Clearance racks!
I found a pair of Levis jeans and a pair of Vans for The Middle - all for just $24.95. I also found a cute top and cami for myself for a good price, though I can't remember quite how much. It will feel great to have something new to wear to work tomorrow.
Books to re-read.
They are like old friends come into town for a surprise visit. I love snuggling into bed a bit early and reading a chapter or two, rediscovering the joys of a story well-known, as wells as discovering something I didn't see the first or second or sixteenth time through.
