Things I am not enjoying one iota:
- Waiting for this stupid house to sell.
- The stress that I feel because this house hasn't sold.
- The way this stress makes me act sometimes.
- Not being able to put a contract on a house because...yup, you guessed it: this house hasn't sold.
Things I am enjoying:
- Knowing I have a job in our new location!
- The continued well wishes and we'll-miss-you's from the folks where I work (albeit bittersweet).
- The rapport our buying agents have with one another (they are a riot to look at houses with).
- The many hugs we receive each time we go to the church where we'll be working and attending.
- Having a clean house.
- Freshly painted finger and toe nails.
Things I despise:
- People who take advantage of others.
- Being over-tired.
Things I dig:
- Getting together with family and friends, gabbing and laughing until the wee hours of the morning.
- Homemade crab cakes (Thanks, sis!)
- Short work weeks.
- Roses that actually smell!
Things that are bugging me...
- When the coffee filter folds over during brewing, creating a weakened brew.
- My notifications are still not coming through.
- Uncertainty.
Things that are exciting me...
- Having our vacation - albeit brief - planned.
- Getting to see friends and family this weekend.
- The kids only have 7 days of school left.
- The Daughter got a job today (she's pretty stoked too).
- Rob getting well-deserved kudos at work.
- That Rob is getting up and running with me in the mornings.
Things I am not liking:
~ Walking out to the car two mornings in a row and finding pterodactyl-sized feces on my car. Might I add that said car resides under a car port.
~ Having an itch on my big toe that won't go away. Grrrrr.
~ Gas prices. Double grrrr.
Things I am liking:
~ Freshly painted nails.
~ Freshly painted toenails.
~ Warm enough weather to skip the panty hose (yet another reason to like freshly painted toenails)
~ Salad with dinner - especially when 2/3rds of the veggies were free!
~ Reading a favorite book.
~ Cinnamon coffee cake
~ Appletinis
I thought it might be fun this week to write about a few things that I am both lovin' and not lovin' so much.
I am not loving getting up at 5:30 AM so I can exercise, BUT...
I am loving how getting up at 5:30 AM to exercise is giving me more energy throughout the day. I know that there are huge payoffs when I make exercise a regular part of my life.
I am not loving how the warmer weather tends to cause my hair to do crazy things, BUT...
I am loving how the warmer weather is allowing me to pull out clothes I haven't seen in 6 months, making me feel like I have a new wardrobe for a little while.
I am not loving being tired by 9:30 PM every night, BUT...
I am loving being tired by 9:30 PM, because it forces me to meander down to our room, get ready for bed, and snuggle up with a good book, so that I am completely relaxed by the time I turn out the light.
I am not loving how expensive my favorite ice cream shop has become, BUT...
I am loving that they had my favorite flavor - pistachio - for Rob and me to indulge in tonight (and that I had a few extra bucks to purchase a pint).
Not liking so much:
Bulk mailings.
Meaning those that I get to put together. It is a tedious process, and took up most of my day. This is the first thing at my job that I can say I don't care for. Blessed thing that they only happen once - maybe twice on a rare occasion, like today - a month.
Sore shins.
I made a pledge - to myself, but a pledge nonetheless - to start exercising in the mornings this week. And for the past two days I have gotten up at 5:30 AM, drank a cup of coffee, stretched, and ran. Well, I've walked a mile and ran a mile because, honestly, it's been a while. And now my shins are sore. And that is decidedly not fun.
Liking...well...a lot!
What sore shins mean.
I am getting my aging carcass out there and doing something! I want to be able to ask my physician's assistant if I can try 8 weeks of exercise without the diuretic to keep my BP in check, and being able to tell her that I've already incorporated a plan is a very, very good thing.
Spending time with my best friend.
My best friend of over 23 years and her son came up and spent last weekend with us. Along with the usual laughing and solving of world problems, we managed to paint the two biggest walls in The Daughter's room. Best of all, it is so nice to be able to just be with someone who really knows you and still loves you anyway.
Clearance racks!
I found a pair of Levis jeans and a pair of Vans for The Middle - all for just $24.95. I also found a cute top and cami for myself for a good price, though I can't remember quite how much. It will feel great to have something new to wear to work tomorrow.
Books to re-read.
They are like old friends come into town for a surprise visit. I love snuggling into bed a bit early and reading a chapter or two, rediscovering the joys of a story well-known, as wells as discovering something I didn't see the first or second or sixteenth time through.
Things I loathe:
- Waking up repeatedly through the night (Please let me sleep well tonight!)
- Whining (Especially from my own children.)
- Clogged sinks (Seriously, I have been trying to unclog my bathroom sink for no less than 3 hours now. Grrrrr.)
Things I love:
- Work (Just as much this week as last! This is a good, good thing.)
- Freebies (The daycare cooks feed me lunch each day and the food closet coordinator gives me free candy.)
- Sales (Especially on groceries, because groceries cost a freakin' lot these days.)
- Warm spring days (We had our first real one today, and it just makes me feel happy when a warm breeze greets me.)
- Donuts (Which may seriously be the death of me.)
Things I am not liking...
- people who aren't completely honest
- having to get out of bed while it is still dark!
- being out of laundry soap (must fix that tomorrow)
Things I am loving...
- not working in the daycare
- my new chair
- donuts (and I seriously need to stop loving those)
- that Spring is almost here
- freshly painted nails
- shorter hair*
*I got it cut a week or two ago, but I haven't been able to take a photo of it. Still a layered bob, just shorter - and even easier to style!
(Idea stolen from sixweasels...)
Things that annoy me:
1. Poor communication. Why in the name of that place that is hot do you carry a cell phone if you are not going to answer it or return voice mails? Better yet, why do you tell people to call said cell phone if you are not going to answer it or return voice mails?
(That is just one facet of poor communication that bugs the fire out of me, but I won't subject you to any more today.)
2. Parents who want daycare workers to parent their child.
'Nuff said.
3. Winter rainy days. Ick.
4. That I don't start my new job for more than 3 freakin' weeks.
Come on, Spring!!
Things that I adore:
1. Freshly ground coffee.
2. Getting home from work before it gets dark.
3. The smell of Spring. I walked out of the house this morning, and it was there, just for a moment. That fresh earth smell that reminds me of daffodils and Easter and sunshine. Yes!
4. That I start a new job in less than four weeks (yippppeeeeeeeeeee!).
