I was trying to be playful, but I am thinking I probably just look silly.
I actually couldn't decide which photo to use for Me and My Monday, so you get two for the price of one.
The witty title is free.
And so...
1) The kiddos got me exactly what I asked for this Christmas....FUZZY SOCKS!
2) My baby sis and her hubby came down to visit for the weekend. Being wrapped up in hostess-y things, I didn't grabbed the camera once until they were about ready to walk out the door...
And BONUS photo! Who do we love?
Bec and I have decided to hold an Ugly Christmas sweater contest here on Vox. On December 22, post a picture of yourself in the Ugly Christmas sweater of your choice as part of the Me and My Monday group. What! You are not a member? Well join the group so you can participate in the holiday hilarity. Together with our families, we will pick a winner of a yet to be determined prize.
You have three weeks, so get shopping, or raid the closet of
your choice. If your sweater comes along with a story, please share. This may
sway some of the votes.
Official Rules:
1) Picture must be posted to the Me And My Monday Group by December 22, 2008, 8:00 pm EST
2) You must be wearing the sweater in the picture
3) Winner must be willing to share his/her real address with Nicole and Bec
4) All decisions of the judges are final
5) Have fun!
If we tried to pose like that today, her bony butt would kill me!
And so without further adieu, The Daughter's answers (I sent them to her by email, and she sent them back. I will only correct some of the spelling, though I will have you know that leaving some is killing me)...

As far as the "Me and My Monday" party goes, I have been one super-poor participant of late.
Who am I kidding. I've been no participant of late!
Every party has a pooper...
I suppose I should continue with my "Me and My New House" series (is that even what I called it?). I had an idea for the next photo in the series weeks ago, and I've just never taken it.
For some reason I find it weird to try to take a self-portrait when there are other people in the house, and the chances of me having the house to myself for any amount of time on a Monday is pretty nil.
Ah well, there's always next week, eh?
One of the first things I noticed when we walked into what is now our home was the dark wood beams on the ceiling in the great room. Generally, I like this look. However, the sight of these beams provided a bit of a flashback for me.
What would you say if I told you said beams are actually made of Styrofoam?
Yes, indeed. The moment I saw them, I jumped up in the air and gave them a good tapping: definitely Styrofoam.
So, what will I do with this 70s flashback decor?
My first thought was to pull those puppies down at the soonest opportunity. Then the kiddos started
Then I thought about how stinking long the silly things would sit in some landfill if I did dispose of them...
If you look closely, you can see that the light fixture is slightly crooked. The ceiling is slanted here. I am not sure how one would hang a light fixture such as this on a slanted ceiling in order for it to hang straight.
The ceiling is also quite low, which you can't really see from this photo. When I first saw the house, this nook looked odd and disjointed. But with a table in place, the lower ceiling lends a cozy feel to the area.
The area is still somewhat unfinished. I have two valances from our dining room in our last home that I'd love to use here, but I am not sure I will be able to find mates for them.
If you look at the window closest to me, you have a glimpse of the-pool-that-has-been-giving-us-much-grief. We've never had one before, and we are such novices at the whole chemical-balance thing. We get rid of the algae, but can't quite conquer the cloudiness. Rob is determined that he will win this battle in time to close the dang thing before the first frost.
I've felt pretty uninspired for MAMM lately, but I don't want the group to just fall by the wayside either, so...
I am going to try to do a black and white series over the next few weeks of "Me and My Home". Not the most original, but could be fun to think of various ways to show off some of the unique things about our new abode.
I have mostly filled this one with framed photos, candid and not. As you can see, one shelf has been devoted to my Mom-Mom. The angel was given to her just before she passed - it is the Willow Tree "Courage" angel, whose proceeds go to Breast Cancer research. Then there is a little Mitford book and snowman; Mom-Mom loved the Mitford series. And finally, the little house was given to Rob and me on our first Christmas, from both she and Pop with a note saying, "We wanted to buy your first house." That statement is vintage Mom-Mom.
I still really miss her.
