It wasn't the movers I saw outside; it was the lawn guy.
At 10 AM, Rob called the sales rep, since they were supposed to be here between 9 & 10. Ten minutes later, the movers themselves called and said they were 20 minutes away.
That was an hour ago.
Lovely.
Neither of the homes we were looking at in the new city are going to accept contingency offers or early possession (though both said they'd consider it, which is why we went to look at them in the first place). So, with 15 days to go, we have no home to go to.
Every prospect for our house here has also fallen through.
Please pray as God leads.
Here's the going's-on 'round here!
Our current house: We had an Open House on Sunday. Seven parties came through. One family loved it, especially the daughter, but they may have a home-sale contingency. Another potential buyer, a single banker, saw the sign on the road and came in. He too expressed some interest. He is a first time home buyer, so there wouldn't be a contingency issue. Then our agents talked to his agent today who said that he is leaning toward a newer home. His agent still thinks our house would be a good option for him because of the updates and plans to talk to him some more about it.
Our agent was disappointed that the 2 agents who were supposed to bring clients to the Open House did not, but they could still want to see the house, just at another time. No word about the out-of-state client that another agent wants to show the house to.
We have not had a scheduled showing since last Wednesday either, but all things considered, about 20-22 parties have come through in the month it's been on the market.
Our next home: On Friday, our agent found 6-7 homes that would consider contingencies and early possession. So, we looked at those, and then even a few others that popped up later. Last night, we wrote a contract on the one we thought would be the best fit (Possibility One), and also wrote a second back-up contract just in case (Possibility Two). If either of these go through, it could mean we will be paying rent and a mortgage for an undetermined amount of time. But it gets us to our destination so that we can start our new jobs and get the kids registered in school.
To say I am stressed would be an understatement! But I am trying to hang in there and have faith that things will fall into place.
OH, and did I mention that I gave my boss a final date today? So, I could also be out of work for a week or two during the transition while we ramp up to pay for two homes at once.
Uuuuuuggggghhhhhh.
As if it wasn't enough to be moving in 26 days with no real buying prospects in sight - as well as no solid contract on the purchase of another home - wouldn't it be fun to add the theft of our debit card numbers?
Um, yeah.
We realized Rob's number had been compromised sometime last week. We immediately canceled it, and he got a new card on Saturday.
Last night we realized that mine was stolen too.
The only place we both go to and use our debit cards with any regularity is a wholesale club's gas pumps. Our bank told us they have been warned that gas stations are being targeted with some type of skimming software that grabs numbers and creates fraudulent cards.
Oh, and did I mention that Rob used his new card at this same gas station yesterday afternoon, before we realized mine had been stolen also?
Thank God we always used the cards as credit cards and never use our pins, if this is indeed what happened!
(Rob will contact the police today and report our suspicions.)
And thank God we have caught all the fraudulent charges as they are pending and not after they actually took the money from our account.
This week's gotta be better, right?
Received this in our market report for the week:
"The house was priced too high. The condition of the home was excellent. There is no further interest.
Liked
kitchen and location, but not as large as another home I showed them.
Turns out they have credit issues and will not be in position to
purchase for some time."
Our agent said in an email this morning that she has no idea why that agent would be showing them homes if they aren't pre-qualified.
Why, indeed?
I asked her about the pricing thing since the last agent who showed it at the higher listing price said it was "priced about right". It is listed at a mere 5% above what we paid for it 3 years ago. That means we will lose money due to cost of sale even if we get the current list price. Hence, I don't think we can go any lower.
Blech.
Some good news is that there aren't as many homes for sale in this price range - the supply has dropped from 6 months to 4 months in the past two weeks. We have scheduled a broker's open house on Thursday and another regular open house next Sunday. And we still have tomorrow's showing at this point.
In my quiet time this morning, one word continually came to mind: wait.
Double blech.
Tonight's showing has been rescheduled for Sunday at 1:30 PM.
SUNDAY!?!?
This really sucks.
We have the second showing of the week scheduled for tonight between 6:30-7:30. We do not have any other Intel on it, nor have we heard a peep about Wednesday's showing.
This is soooooo hard...
Totally forgot about MAMM yesterday, so no photo this week.
If time, will try to get my "Things on Tuesday", but who knows what the night will be like.
Found a house we love, but it costs a lot and we still haven't sold the stupid house here.
Gah.
I heard back from the Vox help folks and they really have no idea, at this point, why I am not receiving notifications. They made several suggestions, most of which I'd already tried. One suggestion was to change email addresses for a day and see if that works.
So, if you have a moment, leave me a quick comment here so I can see if the notifications work with my gmail account.
Merci beaucoup!
What song, you might ask?
The sickies song!
Yes, indeed folks, here I am once again in bed with a fever, aches, headache, cough...Gah!
I went to work today anyway, torqued up on ibuprofen, because seriously, who wants to call out sick when they've only been working a little over a month at their new job?
And I didn't get to run this morning, which actually frustrated me now that I've been doing so for over two weeks. But I don't think it would have gone well with a temp of 100.6.
I have contended that the daycare I was subbing at was making me sick this past winter. It is located in the church's nursery. They basically put all the pack-and-plays, etc. away for Sundays, and wipe everything down (at least they are supposed to).
Guess who had nursery duty this past Sunday?
Blech. And now I am sick again. Rob told me to tell them that I am no longer doing nursery.
I also heard that one of the main infant room workers has mono, of all things!
So, I am using this time to *try* to get caught up on reading. I scroll back to the last entry I read and start moving forward. I've done this for several days now. The problem is, I never seem to get past page 4.
Maybe this illness is the blogging gods way of telling me I need a Vox fix.
